MIDDLEFIELD — — The town will receive $500,000 from the state to make improvements at the former Powder Ridge ski resort site, the governor's office announced Wednesday.
The funds will be released after State Bond Commission approval on Dec. 10.
Since Powder Ridge closed in 2007, the resort has been vandalized and fallen into disrepair. The town bought the property and is trying to renovate and improve it to attract developers. The state grant will be used to upgrade the electrical and septic systems.
"Powder Ridge is the home of many fond memories for generations of Connecticut families – including my own," Gov. M. Jodi Rell said. "Sadly, it is now in disrepair. The town of Middlefield has acquired the property and is working diligently to find developers who will return the property to its former glory. I am glad the state can help."
