Maple Valley
Maple Valley, located 6 miles northwest of Brattleboro on Route 30, was started by Terry Tyler in 1963. Tyler designed and opened Maple Valley after opening two smaller ski areas in Dummerston - Little Prospect and Big Prospect. The first year of operation was served by the North Double Chair and a T-Bar. The South Double Chair was added in 1964.
NELSAP has a lot more information that will be added to this site soon.
For most of its history, Maple Valley operated with two double chairs and a t-bar. The advertised vertical drop ranged from 841 feet to 1,017 feet, depending upon the source and the year. Night skiing and snowmaking were available on many of the trails and slopes.
Toward the end of its operating history, a wire handle tow was added for snow tubing. The main lodge was also expanded.
Layout
The main mountain was served by two Hall double chairlifts - the North Double (3,038' x 821' per the 1963 Lift Installation Survey from Ski Area Magazine/SkiLifts.org) and the South Double (2,743' x 564'). The lower trails were also served by a Hall T-Bar (775' x 148').

Next time your driving up to Stratton check this place out on the left hand side, word is it's for sale!
